Connect Groups

Following Jesus Together in Small Groups

Connect groups are more than just a social group. It's a close-knit gathering where you can grow spiritually, build relationships, and receive support in living out your faith.

Following Jesus Together in Small Groups

In the Bible, we read that Jesus chose his disciples with a simple invitation: “Follow me.” This is also our invitation to this day.

Like the disciples, we are not called to follow Jesus alone, but invited into community. None of us are called to walk out our calling outside this relational context, because it’s how God designed His followers to grow.

Each group meets every other week to discuss more than we can during a Sunday morning service. Using the subject of Sunday sermons as a foundation, we invite all to engage in sharing view points to help grow one another.

As we sharpen one another and practice the way of Jesus, we believe we’ll see not just our own lives changed, but our families, our workplaces, and our city.

Why do we have Connect Groups?

Here are three key reasons:

  1. Jesus modeled engagement in groups:
If Jesus lived his life as part of a community, we should follow His example.

  2. He taught in community: Learning happens best in groups. We grow by applying the truths we learn, and others provide insights that enhance our understanding.

  3. Community is transformative: The goal is to be like Jesus, and in community, we experience His tangible love through deep relationships. We also encounter pain, misunderstanding, and the need for forgiveness, all of which shape us into Christ-likeness.

What do Connect Groups look like?

We have designed connect groups to be based on discussion following weekly sermons, allowing for further discussion, processing questions, and applying the principles to our daily lives.

Sunday sermons introduce new ideas and concepts, while Connect groups ‘connect’ the truths to a deeper and more applicable level. We want to cultivate intentional discipleship, where people feel free to share their thoughts on topics and learn from others on the spiritual journey.

We desire to create space for people to consider how each message applies to their own lives, asking, “How does this change what I believe, how I act, or how I think?”

We also see connect groups as a place to encourage people to be open and honest – where people can share what is going on in their lives and receive prayer from others.

Connect groups are a safe place to wrestle with questions about God and our spiritual walk.

Connect groups exist to aid in holistic with God and one another, bridging the Sunday-to-Monday gap of application in our daily lives.

FAQs

1.    How do I decide which group to join? View the groups below and see what day of the week works best for you. Also consider your proximity to the location.

2.    What am I committing to? We believe in doing life together. These groups are not a 12 week program but for the purpose of building deeper relationship & formation. Connect groups run from September to the end of November then January to June, breaking for the summer.

They meet bi-weekly in homes.

3.    How long are Connect Groups? For the purpose of formation we suggest a group keep running for a 2 year cycle or until they grew to large and must divide. If a group is not working for you we are open to conversations of change.

4.    Can I bring my kids? We do welcome kids! We desire for groups to be multi-generational and be example of Jesus to the younger. We do try to facilitate space in homes where children can be separate for the discussion time. We ask you help direct and supervise your child during connect group.
